"...and I have filled them with the Spirit of God, with skill, ability and knowledge in all kinds of crafts - to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze, to cut and set stones, to work in wood, and to engage in all kinds of craftsmanship." ~Exodus 31:2-5
Sheri grew up in the back woods of Maine in a small hunting cabin with a backdrop of pine and birch. Times were difficult for the family of eight as her mother worked all day sewing shoes from the cabin. With an outhouse in the backyard and a water pump in the front, the basic necessities of life weren't so basic. Much of her childhood was spent in outdoor exploration and is reflected in her art. Sheri always felt the presence of God, even with the limited exposure she had as a child. As she grew older, however her mustard seed of faith began to blossom into the passion of her heart and ultimately her art.
At a young age, Sheri enjoyed her art classes where she dabbled in mixed media from pencil to clay, beginning her portfolio. Some of her early works were displayed at a local art show; one as a mural in her highschool gym and another in the library. After many years of experience, Sheri focused in on her primary medium of textured acrylic.
Currently, Sheri is a fine artist located in Rochester, NY. Some of her time is spent involved in the A.R.T.S. ministry led by professional fine artist Richmond Futch. A.R.T.S. (www.propheticarts.us), headquartered in the Gallery at Aviv, is a ministry which promotes imagination and creativity of the Holy Spirit through art and music. Sheri enjoys this form of prophetic art and worship which she performs at both her home church and the gallery. The gallery is also where she spends time painting for the First Friday events (www.firstfridayrochester.org) along side her husband as he plays his cello.
Sheri doesn't want to 'paint just to paint', but to be purposeful; to express her relationship with God and convey His message of hope and healing.
